'The deep brown clay soils of the Haut-Lieu plateau provide the typical fruitiness and freshness wonderfully in Huet's 2019 Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Sec. Ripe pear, tangerine and orange fruits with notes of lemon grass and green pimientos intertwined with very fine chalky and later tobacco notes give a remarkably fine, elegant and harmonious, subtly complex and simply gorgeous bouquet with floral (lime blossom!) and yeasty aromas that are immediately attractive. Delicate and linear on the palate, this is a pure, fresh, bone-dry, lean and textured, highly refined and perfectly interwoven Chenin with persistent purity, finesse, salty-mineral tension and very fine tannins. Highly finessed and so pure and vivacious! This is a chalky picture-book Haut-Lieu that can age for many years, even though it is already dangerously seductive! There was no dry Le Haut-Lieu produced in 2018, but the 2019 is possibly the finest, most delicate and elegant I've had in recent years, at least at this early stage. A terrific and buoyant Vouvray that any Chenin lover should try?or, better yet, cellar! 13% alcohol. 80,000 bottles made. Tasted in July 2020.'

'The Domaine Huet in Vouvray is one of the few world class producers in the Loire Valley. Its reputation was built by 1910-born Gaston Huet and the Le Haut Lieu, a top single vineyard site that was bought by his parents in 1928 with three hectares under vines, all Chenin Blanc.'

Als Noël Pinguet, der Schwiegersohn von Gaston Huet, 2012 die Domaine Huet verließ, ging ein Raunen durch die Weinszene. Pinguet hatte ohne Zweifel den Stil der Loire-Domaine über Jahrzehnte geprägt, die biodynamische Wirtschaftsweise eingeführt und Huet zu Weltruhm geführt. Wie sollte es nun weitergehen auf der Domaine, die 2003 von der amerikanischen Familie Hwang übernommen worden war? Schreckensbilder wurden an die Wand gemalt, Stilwechsel heraufbeschworen, doch - ehrlich gesagt - wir sind damals recht entspannt geblieben. Auch wenn Pinguets Abgang kurzfristig erfolgte, so sollten doch Außenbetriebsleiter Jean-Bernard Berthomé und Önologe Benjamin Joliveau weiter für die Weine verantwortlich sein - so wie schon seit vielen Jahren. Dass die Domaine aus Vouvray dann ausgerechnet mit zwei schwierigen Jahrgängen (2012 und 2013) konfrontiert wurde und auch 2014 nur trockene und halbtrockene Weine herstellen konnte, war in dieser Umbruchzeit ein großes Pech.
Spätestens mit der Präsentation des 2017er Jahrgangs aber ist klar: Seit 2015 sind drei große aufeinanderfolgende Jahrgänge entstanden, die allesamt an die große Pinguet-Ära anknüpfen können.
