'The deep ruby/plum-tinged, spicy 2009 Fonsalette Cotes du Rhone offers hints of sweet boysenberry, black cherry, licorice and incense. Elegant and full-bodied with a heady concoction of fruit and glycerin, it can be enjoyed for 15 or more years.'

'Opaque ruby. Highly perfumed bouquet of blackberry, cherry, Asian spices and violet, with subtle pepper and mineral notes emerging with air. Juicy, penetrating and gently sweet, offering fresh red and dark berry flavors and a smoky mineral underpinning. Impressively vibrant syrah with excellent finishing clarity and a lingering note of zesty spices. This could easily pass as an elegant wine from the northern Rhone.'
