'One of the most conspicuous over-achievers from Bordeaux's right bank appellations of St.-Emilion and Pomerol, La Dominique continues to fashion excellent wines that still represent fine value (although their prices are beginning to creep up). This wine may turn out to be even better than my rating indicates. The extremely saturated opaque blue/purple color is followed by aromas of sweet, overripe plum and cassis fruit, licorice, and toasty, smoky wood. Medium-bodied, big, and rich, with no greenness or harsh tannin, this is an excellent, dense, richly-endowed 1993 that will benefit from another 1-3 years of cellaring'
