91+/100 vinous
'Saturated ruby-red. Compelling aromas of black raspberry, roasted meat and smoky oak, complicated by suggestions of fruit syrup and minerals. Sweet and thick but not at all over the top. Finishes with building tannins and strong, tangy fruit. Like the 2004, this has some rather unusual numbers for the vintage: the fruit was harvested very late, on September 3, with just 12.5% potential alcohol (in bottle, it's a mere 12.3%), and was neither chaptalized nor acidified. Hardly your typical 2003 grand cru.'
