Ein wahnsinns Vertreter französischer Rotweine, dieser opulente und tief rubinrote M. Chapoutier »Barbe Rac«. Er präsentiert die ganze Palette klassischer Châteauneuf-Aromen, mit der Rebsorte Grenache als Grundlage, von getrockneten Kräutern, Pfeffer und Lakritz bis zu gereifter Süßkirsche und warmen Noten von dunkler Schokolade. Robert M. Parker bewertet den 2014er Chapoutier Barbe Rac mit 93-95 Punkten und schreibt: 'One of the wines of the vintage will no doubt be the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac. This single vineyard, 100% Grenache release reveals a deep purple color as well as rich, full-bodied notes of mulled blackberries, exotic spice, licorice and Provençal garrigue. Possessing ripe tannin, a full, layered middle and a great finish, it will age for 10-15 years. While I always preferred the Barbe Rac in the past, the quality of the Croix de Bois cuvee continues to soar and at this point, I think the two cuvees are neck and neck in terms of quality.' Wine Spectator 93 Punkte: 'This has a slightly beefy edge, with warm tobacco and roasted chestnut notes, backed by a solid core of black currant, plum and raspberry fruit. The grippy finish features a warm paving stone accent driving throughout. This should fill out in the cellar. Best from 2020 through 2030. 28 cases imported'
