95/100 PP \'This 2005 Pintas is a reevaluation of a library wine. Like so many 2005s I\'ve seen of late – a vintage that initially seemed a bit hard and ungiving – it is now easy to see light at the end of the tunnel. They seem increasingly interesting. I always liked this. It is right on track. Opening a bit tight and herbal, it unfolds into a wine with good concentration and grip, but also very expressive, complex fruit. Most importantly, it opened showing a lot of oak. It absorbed it steadily with time, getting better and better as it went along. When it was young, it was a bit showy and made its bones with its obvious power and concentration. Today, there is a lot more going on, a beautiful medley of flavors, complexity and fascinating fruit. It is still capable of evolving and improving over the next few years and it should hold nicely for awhile thereafter. It is worth expanding the drinking window a bit, too. The price set out is just an example of new release pricing – of course, availability and pricing will vary widely for older wines.\' (Mark Squires, robertparker.com)
